The Ocicat is named after the Ocelot, a wild cat known as the Dwarf Leopard, which it closely resembles. The breed was produced from Siamese and Abyssinian cats. Later, American Shorthairs (silver tabbies) were bred in to produce a silver color.
The Ocicat is known as an intelligent breed which can be taught tricks. They tend to bond with just one person and can be shy around strangers.
